v6.0.9 + v6.0.10 fixes

V6.0.0 was rolled out yesterday, I didn't announce it because I wanted to find and fix bugs organically. And I'm glad I did because I found a lot of bugs!

Here are the things I've fixed:

  • v6.0.9
    • FFMPEG was having issues installing on some machines because they added a new SVG related dependency that's not really needed but breaks on Windows. I've fixed this by pinning FFMPEG to a version that doesn't have this issue (ffmpeg@7.0.2)
  • v6.0.10
    • Previously the website was light mode only, now it has a dark mode option. Also, when you load the website in Pinokio app, it automatically uses the parent pinokio app's theme
  • beta.pinokio.co (This website)
    • Several people signed up with invalid usernames (usernames that include spaces or invalid characters). This was my mistake for not validating this. I thought about fixing this while somehow supporting smooth migration for these users, but doing this would make the code messy and there were only a handful so I just decided to log them out and reset these accounts. Those of you who are logged out because of this, please sign up again, it should work.
    • Featured all the apps that were featured on the old homepage (Featuring simply means @pinokio account following the app). The way the home feed works is, it displays all the apps followed by @pinokio and the people you follow. Yesterday I hadn't followed that many apps with the @pinokio account, but now have gone through and followed them all, so they should all show up on the home page.
    • The default home feed ("Recommended") now displays all the featured apps with pagination ("featured" just means the app has been followed by @pinokio, effectively the same as the old "Featured" apps, since I just went through all the featured apps from the old website and followed them all with @pinokio).
    • If you want what used to be "Community scripts", just click the "Latest" filter and it should show you the raw unfiltered list of ALL github repos that include pinokio.js or pinokio.json (which is actually much wider than the old "community scripts" since it relied on the user manually tagging their repos with "pinokio"). The "latest" tab basically is an unfiltered search engine for all the pinokio scripts in the world.

I will write a more detailed post on how things work around here. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment here.
